| The blueprint 3 is very good from start to end. It might be one of the best albums of 2009. These young artist need to pay attention to real hip-hop and this album is pure hip-hop. Top 5 songs D.O.A., Empire State of Mind, Venus vs Mars, A Star is Born, and On to the Next One |

i love the album

As some ppl stated in their review, Jay Z did not give a blueprint to the rap game. As for me, I am not paying attention to if his tracks reflected what he named his cd. Jay Z clearly knows what he is doing becuz he gave his entire album to Rhapsody and still sold albums. I love the entire album. D.O.A. was definitely a good track that should have knocked some ppl off of their high horses.
Jay Z can leave and come back in the game when he is 50 and still outsell whoever is rapping at that time. I love the album, like his others becuz he is still Jay Z, he is not and never tried to immulate anyone else and even with it being 2009, his songs are still so different and completely in another category to artists out there right now.
I would recommend the album. I love it. Keep doing ya thing Jay |

Jay-Z is one of those artists who is sure to generate massive album sales by his name alone. But after stepping down as head of Def Jam (and then leaving the label even as a recording artist), not to mention the dissolution of Roc-a-Fella Records, Jay founded his own label, Roc Nation, where he released his latest album, The Blueprint3.
Looking at the album title alone, though, it can be said that the album is a continuation of previous albums with a similar name. The first Blueprint was pretty good (although I don't think it was a classic, like a professional reviewer from another website said), but The Blueprint 2 was garbage. And while this album isn't a classic either, it's still pretty decent. Most of the buzz from the album was due to a promo single called "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)". The very title made me applaud, but it also got some criticism, most vocally from the Game and DJ Webstar (to which America asked, "Who the F is DJ Webstar?"). Anyway, it's still one of the album's highlights.
And good songs don't stop there. The best songs are probably the singles, which are the three-in-a-row of "D.O.A.", "Run This Town" and "Empire State of Mind". The Pharrell-produced "So Ambitious" also good, and "A Star is Born" (featuring protégé J.Cole) is an interesting story. "Reminder" is also pretty decent even though its chorus isn't the most mind-blowing.
But there are also a few missteps. The tracks other reviewers didn't like are ones I didn't like either, especially "Hate", which is one of those cases where the song sounds like it's chopped-and-screwed, but it isn't. And if you think the presence of Timbaland on this album will produce some worthy tracks like "Lobster & Scrimp", think again: the sexual "Venus vs. Mars" sounds like a song Lil Wayne rejected, and "Off That" made me, well, turn off that (and although Jay's lyrics are on point on the latter, Drake's monotonous chorus doesn't help matters).
Another thing is that it's pretty hard to tell Jay-Z isn't on Def Jam anymore because there are so many guest stars on here. Anyway, everyone has been making their own comparisons, but I think The Blueprint3 maybe should have been called Kingdom Come 2, in that it's "just another" Jay-Z album. It may not be classic, but there're still enough moments on here to make it worth your while.

| Please welcome back Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z to the world of hip hop..After the black album he fell off and his albums were not a solid effort and lyrically not the jay-z everyone loves.This album is a good solid effort with great production and lyrically is good but no classic by any means.If your a jay-z fan this is a must have for your collectioin and if your new to jay-z I would recommend with his first album reasonable doubt and albums following. |

11th solo is a pretty good one

It's been 22 months and Jay-Z returns with his 11th solo, and his 3rd of his Blueprint album series. Of his 11 albums, 2 I'd give 5 stars, 2 I'd give 3.5, the other 7 I'd give 4.5 or 4 (this one is a 4 star and on the lower half of his albums but it's still decent). It starts off very nice and kinds of plateaus after the 6th song. Of the 15 on here, guests ar eon 12, only rapping on 4 though. I'd say there are 2 near classics, 2 ok songs, the other 11 are good, a few are real good. As always he delivers with a very nice flow and a wider range of topics then his earlier albums. Production is decent as well. Kanye Wewst does 5 songs, No ID does 3, Timbaland does 2, Shux, Neptunes, Jerome Harmon, The Inkredibles, and Swizz Beatz all do 1. A nice album for his fans, but he has had better albums in the past.
